Datuk
Henrynus Amin was born on 22 February 1959 in Kg Marakau,
Ranau. He is married to Esther Lee Nyut Yun and they
have 4 children.
Henrynus
is currently the Secretary General of the Sabah United
Party (Parti Bersatu Sabah) and a member of the Party's
Political Bureau. He is a graduate in political science,
having obtained an M.A. (Political Science) from Southern
Illinois University, Carbondale, USA.
He
has a varied working background in government and
politics. Aside from working as a civil servant for
many years, Mr. Amin also served as a researcher with
the Sabah Institute for Development Studies (IDS).
He joined active politics through PBS in 1987 and
served as Political Secretary in the Prime Minister's
Department in Kuala Lumpur May 1987 until December
1989. Subsequently he also worked as Political Secretary
to the Chief Minister of Sabah from December 1989
until January 1984.
Datuk
Henrynus worked briefly as the Special Officer (Parliamentary
Affairs) to the Hon. Minister of Science, Technology
and Innovation from May 2008 until December 2008.
Datuk Henrynus served as the Member of Parliament
(MP) for the Kinabalu constituency from 1995 until
1999. He is a Life Member of the Kadazandusun
Cultural Association (KDCA) since 1998. For his numerous
contributions to the state, he was awarded the Ahli
Darjah Kinabalu (ADK) in 1989 by the TYT Yang diPertua
Negeri Sabah.
On
5th June 2010, Datuk Henrynus was conferred the "Panglima
Jasa Negara (PJN)" which carries the title "Datuk"
by the Seri Paduka Baginda Yang DiPertuan Agong.
