Datuk Seri Panglima Metah @ Michael Asang was born on 19
May 1947 in Kg. Penimbanan, Beluran. He is married to Angelina
Verus and they have 4 children.
His
first involvement in politics was through BERJAYA from 1976
until 1984. In 1985, he join the Sabah United Party (Parti
Bersatu Sabah) and has been a member since. He is currently
one of the Vice President of the Sabah United Party (Parti
Bersatu Sabah) and heads the PBS Labuk Division.
Michael
has been a member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly
(MLA) for the Labuk constituency since March 1999. He was
also the MP for P.193 Jambongan from 1986 until 1995.
Prior
to his appointment as Assistant Minister of Industrial Development,
he was a businessman involved in the plantation and construction
industry.
For
his numerous contributions, he was awarded by the TYT Yang
Dipertua Negeri Sabah, the Seri Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu
(SPDK) which carries the title "Datuk Seri Panglima",
Panglima Gemilang Darjah Kinabalu (PGDK) which carries the
title "Datuk". He also holds the Ahli Setia Darjah
Kinabalu (ASDK) and Ahli Darjah Kinabalu (ADK) medal, and
was awarded the Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) by the Seri Paduka
Baginda Yang di Pertuan Agong.
