PBS Expresses Confidence PM Would
Form Royal Commission of Inquiry
KOTA
KINABALU, Feb 7 (Bernama) -- Parti Bersatu Sabah
(PBS) vice-president Datuk Radin Malleh expressed confidence
that the federal government would form a Royal Commission
of Inquiry (RCI) on illegal immigrants in Sabah soon.
"We
must be confident and trust the leadership of Prime Minister
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, who is all out to practise what
he preaches under the 1Malaysia concept," he said in
a statement, here.
Believing
that the Prime Minister would prioritise the interest of
Sabahans, especially the natives, Radin said, "The
natives are now being outnumbered with the sudden increase
in population due to an uncontrolled influx of foreigners
getting Identity Cards (IC) through the back door".
"The
leadership can't ignore the situation at the expense of
Sabahans. This is about our sovereignty and future,"
he emphasised.
Radin
remarked that his speeches in Parliament during the 90s
and seven official reports between 1994-1999 to relevant
authorities such as the police, Election Commission and
National Registration Department would be able to assist
the RCI in one way or another.
He added
that the reports contained thousands of names and IC numbers
obtained illegally.
Radin
said in 1996, PBS had passed a resolution during its annual
congress, urging the setting up of the RCI to resolve the
problem.
