Barisan Government Has Proven Track Record
SANDAKAN, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Parti Bersatu
Sabah president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan said on Thursday
the Barisan Nasional government has a proven track record
and is serious about developing the state.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the infrastructure development
and other projects being carried out in Batu Sapi itself
is proof of that commitment.
Pairin, who is also the State Infrastructure Development
Minister, added:
"The important thing here is to look at the problem
of the rakyat ... And the government here is very responsive
and very responsible."
He was speaking to reporters during a walkabout with Barisan
candidate Datin Linda Tsen Thau Lin at Kampung Pukat near
here.
He was asked about the traffic congestion problem in Taman
Mawar which the party visited last night.
Tsen said her late husband, Datuk Edmund Chong Ket Wah
whose death is the reason for the by-election, was aware
of this problem and had got an RM 4.2 million allocation
from the government to build the Batu Sapi bypass.
"It will ease the traffic definitely ... This is one
of the jobs I have in mind to finish if elected," she
added.
Pairin said that Barisan campaigners are going around not
only to introduce Tsen to the voters, but also to listen
to the people so that the government can understand their
concerns and act accordingly.
Tsen said that assisting single parents, especially in
providing education for their children, would be in her
agenda if she became an MP.
"Being a single parent is definitely hard, I'm one
of them, not by choice ... A main worry for single parents
is to ensure their children get a good education,"
she added.
