Tsen Ready To Continue Late Husband's Legacy

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- The new Member of Parliament for Batu Sapi, Datin Linda Tsen, is ready and determined to continue the legacy of her late husband, Datuk Edmund Chong Ket Wah, who held the seat before her.

"I'm new and have a lot to learn and catch up. Basically, I will try to continue what my husband started off and I have to be tough," she told reporters at the parliament lobby after she was sworn in as Batu Sapi MP, here, Tuesday.

Tsen, 54, the Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Wanita vice-chief, won the Batu Sapi seat in a by-election on Nov 4 with a 6,359-vote majority, double that obtained by her late husband in the 2008 general election.

Tsen garnered 9,773 votes, defeating Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate Ansari Abdullah who obtained 3,414 votes and Sabah Progressive Party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee who had 2,031 votes.

She again thanked all the voters who have placed their trust in her to shoulder the responsibilities as their new elected representative and promised to do her best.

"I have to go down to the ground to meet the people and see what they need and what I have to voice out for them," she said.
