1,200 Tambunan villagers register for poverty eradication
programme
TAMBUNAN, July 2 (The Borneo Post) --
Some 1,200 locals from several villages in the district
registered under the government’s poverty eradication programme
here yesterday. The job matching programme, known as 3P
and tailored for household heads (KIR), household members
(AIR) and eKasih, was launched by Deputy Chief Minister
Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
Pairin, who is also the Infrastructure Development Minister,
said the 3P is the government’s latest poverty eradication
programme to assist people from the poor and hardcore poor
group to secure jobs in the private sector.
Currently, there are 661 hardcore poor household heads
and 499 poor household heads in the district registered
under the eKasih programme.
Family members aged between 18 and 40 from poor and hardcore
poor households would also be included under the new programme.
Some 10 companies and government agencies took part in
the 3P programme which was conducted at the district office
here to offer job placements.
Among the firms and government agencies are Sabah Rubber
Industry Board that has 50 vacancies, Focus Lumber Berhad
(104), Veracity Corporation Sdn Bhd (100), Perusahaan Kosinar
Sdn Bhd (52), Bestamart Supermarket (22), Hiap Lee Supermarket
(23), Sabindo Mini Market (12), Syarikat Cahaya Perkhidmatan
(7), Korporasi Pembangunan Ummah Sabah Berhad (4).
The programme will be extended to the other districts in
the state, namely Sandakan (July 5), Beluran (July 6), Lahad
Datu (July 13), Kinabatangan (July 15), Kota Kinabalu (July
20), Tuaran (July 28), Ranau (July 30) and Keningau (Aug
3).
