Govt serious in its action against illegals
KENINGAU, Aug 30 (The Borneo Post) --
The government is serious and committed in its action on
illegal immigrants in the state.
Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Radin Malleh
said the government will continue to arrest and send them
back to their countries of origin.
“Illegal immigrants are not only a problem to the state
but have also become a national issue and both state and
federal governments will work together to overcome this,”
he said after officiating at the combined Parti Bersatu
Sabah (PBS) Bingkor and Liawan Annual General Meeting held
at a hotel here yesterday.
Radin also urged the relevant authorities here to monitor
the sugar situation and hoped that there is enough sugar
for Hari Raya.
Earlier at the meeting, the PBS secretary-general reminded
all party members to be responsible and committed in their
struggle to strengthen PBS in their respective divisions.
He said members must have commitment and loyalty to the
party so as to protect the welfare and future of the people.
“Unity and cooperation among members are the keys to the
strength and success of PBS,” he said.
Radin also said that to compromise and to have a give and
take attitude could make PBS a strong party in this state.
However, he expressed regret that some party members were
easily influenced by other leaders and hence had joined
another component party.
According to him, members should not have such an attitude
because as a party practising the 1Malaysia concept, they
should love their party and be loyal to the country and
its leaders.
“I appeal to party members to step forward and make PBS
a respected and strong multi-racial party in this state,”
he said.
Radin also advised party members and it leaders to continue
protect Liawan, Bingkor, Sook and Nabawan where they were
once PBS strongholds.
He said if PBS members, especially the division committee
members, could coordinate and set up more pro tem branches,
including attracting more members in the four divisions,
the party could return to its glorious days when it was
first established.
“I am confident PBS will become stronger in these areas
if party members are united and committed to the party’s
struggle,” he said.
Present at the meeting were Bingkor and Liawan coordinating
chiefs, Johnny Goh and Daniel Kinsik respectively, PBS Treasurer
General Datuk Seri Panglima Michael Asang, PBS supreme council
members and Wanita Exco.
