Avoid Money Politics, Pairin Tells PBS Youth
KUNDASANG, Oct 11 (Bernama) -- Parti Bersatu
Sabah (PBS) president Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan
Sunday reminded PBS Youth leaders and members to refrain
from involving in money politics as it could destroy the
party.
Instead, he said, they should place noble values, patriotism
and unity before any personal interest.
"As future leaders, PBS Youth should give importance
to good values, which should be the basis of their political
struggle with PBS.
"We want our party to be the hope and pillar for the
people to improve their lot and not as a platform for the
leaders and members to serve their personal interests as
this can destroy the party," he said when officiating
at the PBS Youth Retreat at the Civics Bureau training camp,
here, today. Also present was PBS Youth chief Datuk Jahid
Jahim.
The three-day course with 63 participants comprising the
Youth chief, executive committee members and delegates,
is organised by PBS Youth with the cooperation of the Sabah
Civics Bureau and state Youth and Sports Ministry.
Pairin, who is Deputy Chief Minister, also reminded the
PBS Youth members to uphold a party principle, that is,
"to be a good leader, you must first be a good follower".
He said PBS Youth also needed to work hard to make the
1PBS 2010 campaign to increase the party's membership, a
success.
"As part of the party machinery, PBS Youth has an
important role of getting close to young people and they
should use an effective approach to win their hearts."
Pairin also urged the PBS Youth members to equip themselves
with various knowledge in facing the challenges ahead, especially
in politics.
