Call to retain Max for Kota Marudu

MATUNGGONG, Nov 18 (Daily Express) -- Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Youth here is calling for Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili to be retained as the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Kota Marudu parliamentary seat in the coming general elections.

Its chief Marius Masain said the call was made following a meeting by the division's movement on Thursday.

He said the Matunggong State constituency, which is one of constituencies in the Kota Marudu parliamentary seat, still needs the service of Maximus as a senior party leader and Minister at the Federal level to continue the development agenda in the district.

"Even if Maximus has to choose between Kota Marudu and Tandek in respect of the decision of party President Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan we would also do the same," he said.

But, he said they were making the request because of the leadership and struggles of Maximus, who had been proven to be consistent since the opposition days.

"Several Federal development projects have already reached us such as the construction of SMK Bengkongan and Marak Parak-Ranau Road that indirectly assist in stimulating the economic growth of the rural folk," he said.

Meanwhile, Marius said the PBS Matunggong Youth Chief Cup football tournament next month is expected to be launched by Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Jahid Jahim.
