PBS
regrets opposition tactics
KOTA KINABALU, March 3 (Daily Express) -- Parti
Bersatu Sabah (PBS) regrets and deplores acts to link its
leadership to opposition parties' campaigns to garner support
for the impending general elections.
Its Information
Chief, Johnny Mositun, said PBS members must not be taken
in but counter such irresponsible acts aimed at discrediting
PBS leaders and casting suspicion on the party's sincerity
as a BN component.
"PBS believes
in building a multi racial and religious society of equality,
harmony and that is progressive on the strong values of
the Rukun Negara principles and foundation as enshrined
in the State and Federal constitutions," he said here
Friday.
He said PBS leaders
have lived through various phases of the State's political
development in different capacities.
"The experiences
of their triumphs and failures have been the source and
result of the leadership wisdom that the party is trying
to nurture and inculcate into the people," he said.
Mositun who is
also PBS Pantai Manis chief said they must be mindful of
the many issues facing Sabahans like security, economy,
land and development that remained unresolved.
PBS, he said,
'would continue to strive within its capacity in the BN
machinery to seek solutions for the people problems.
"We appreciate
the acknowledgement and recognition of the political standing
of PBS President Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, which
was believed widely used by the opposition parties to convince
and justify why they should be supported," he said.
PBS and Pairin,
he said, had never compromised the values and principles
of its formation and struggle at the expense of the people.
PBS Vice President,
Herbert Timbon Lagadan recently claimed that Parti Keadilan
Rakyat was telling people during political talks in Kota
Belud about Pairin's intention to merge PBS with the oppositions
to form the government after the next general election.
However, Keadilan
Sabah liaison secretary, Kanul Gindol denied the allegations
stating that Herbert could have been misled by agents keen
to smear the party's name.
