Tap ICT economic potential: Pairin

TAMBUNAN, September 2 (Daily Express) -- People here have been urged to venture into the economic potential of ICT.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan said in this respect, every individual has his or her own role to play.

In the context of e-Desa Centre, everyone must understand that the facility must be used wisely, he said when launching the Karanaan e-Desa Centre here.

"I am confident that the local community is not alone in the effort to utilise the facility to improve themselves because the Government through the Resource and IT Ministry as well as its agencies is constantly providing guidance," he said.

Meanwhile, Resource and IT Minister Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai said apart from the establishment of e-Desa, his Ministry was also implementing human capital development programmes through ICT training and courses.

This year, he said about 13,454 people had participated in the training with 331 of them coming from the district.
