No
reason for PBS loyalists to back opposition: Pairin
KOTA BELUD, August 2 (Daily Express) ---
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan
said there should be no reason for local Parti Bersatu Sabah
(PBS) leaders, members and loyalists not to support the
Barisan Nasional in the next general election.
Pairin, who is
also PBS President, said the party was enjoying its fourth
year with the BN at State and Federal level, providing development
programmes beneficial to the people.
He, however,
acknowledged there were still issues that had to be accomplished,
particularly the aspiration of all leaders on equal distribution
of economic activities and specific roles in the Government
for the people.
Pairin said this
while opening the PBS Kadamaian annual general meeting,
at Dewan Taginambar, 16km from here, on Tuesday.
Also present
were representatives of BN components Umno, MCA, SAPP, PBRS
and Upko.
He also disclosed
that PBS had been entrusted with the responsibility to screen
the Sri Tanjung squatters, promoting unity and national
integration and upgrading the living standards of the people,
through the Government's poverty eradication programme.
