Radin refutes claims
about cyber gambling
TENOM, Nov 1 (Daily Express) --- Assistant
Minister to the Chief Minister, Datuk Radin Malleh, has
refuted claims that the authorities, including the District
Officer and him, have been paid to keep quiet about the
alleged cyber gambling activities here.
Radin,
who is Melalap Assemblyman, said he had been inundated with
phone calls and SMSes these few days about the activities
in the township.
According
to him, based on the reports he received the illegal activities
had been going on for several months now with patrons mostly
being students and children who not only neglect their studies
and other work but also wasted their money.
"Worst
still the reports alleged that the relevant authorities
are not taking any action because they have been paid including
the District Officer and myself," he said.
Radin
who is Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Secretary-General, said
such allegations were untrue and can be damaging to the
personalities and the relevant authorities, if left unchecked
and no action taken.
Due
to the severity of the allegations, he urged the relevant
authorities here to conduct a thorough investigation so
that the social problem would not threaten the well being
of the young ones in the district apart from bringing the
culprits to book.
"We
should be responsible enough not to spoil our young ones,
for if we don't nip the problem in the bud, such activities
could lead to serious social problems in our society,"
he said.
