KOTA KINABALU -- The return of Parti Bersatu
Sabah (PBS) to the Barisan Nasional (BN) fold has fortified
the coalition in Sabah, said Deputy Prime Minister Datuk
Seri Najib Tun Razak.
"As a mature
political party, PBS is endowed with a lot of experienced
and dedicated members and its presence further strengthens
our position," he said in a message in conjunction
with the party's 21st annual general meeting to be held
here on Sept 18 and 19.
He said PBS and
other BN component parties had to further reinforce their
bond of cooperation to ensure that Sabah continued to develop
and become an advanced state.
"The political
stability in the state is an important factor in realising
the objective," he said, adding that he hoped BN Sabah
would be stronger and stable to enable it to carry out its
plans and fulfil the promises to the people.
"I have
to thank PBS for always cooperating and giving its unflinching
support to the government and BN to ensure that the development
projects can be carried out in line with the national aspiration."
He said the diversity
in religion, culture and race in Sabah should not hamper
cooperation among the component parties to establish a successful
and modern Sabah.
"I am confident
with the undivided support for the government and BN, the
people of Sabah in particular and Malaysia in general will
enjoy a high economic growth and fair distribution of wealth
under the Ninth Malaysia Plan," he added.
