KUDAT : The readmission of Parti Bersatu
Sabah (PBS) into the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition is
precious as the Government is currently tending to its struggle
to find a solution to the illegal immigrants' problem, creating
equal opportunities and a transparent administration, among
others.
President Datuk
Joseph Pairin Kitingan said the Federal and State governments
were currently focusing on solving the illegal immigrants'
problem through the setting up of a Cabinet committee, special
court for illegal immigrants and police investigation into
the so-called "Projek IC".
He said added
to this was the assurance from the Chief Minister on the
State Government's commitment to address the matter seriously.
"The development
plan in the 9MP and the administration approach of the Prime
Minister has something similar with PBS' struggles to further
improve the situation.
"Towards
this end, we are ready to listen to whatever views from
all quarters because it is not wrong for us to do so if
for the better," he said when launching the PBS Matunggong
annual meeting at the Pinawantai multi-purpose hall, Tuesday.
Pairin who is
Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Rural Development Minister also
urged party members and the rural people to be more open
and positive to participate in the 9MP development stream.
Meanwhile, the
division chief, Jornah Mozihim who is also Assistant Community
Development and Consumers Affair Minister said a target
had been set to get the area out of poverty by 2010.
"I have
allocated 54 per cent of my YB's fund to help rubber tapper
families this year since the sector is now proved able to
enhance the people's income," she said.
In conjunction
with the occasion, Pairin also accepted the return of former
Marudu MP (1986-1991), Joe Ojihi Supiring into the party's
fold.
