KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS)
believes it is time the Government considers setting up
a commission of inquiry to get to the bottom of the problems
of community leaders, especially village heads who abused
powers.
PBS
Supreme Council member Johnny Mositun said based on recent
developments, abuse of power by these leaders seemed to
be rampant.
"Perhaps,
it is time that the Government sets up a commission of inquiry
to investigate the matter and eliminate the problem,"
he said when launching the PBS Kampung Bonguk branch annual
general meeting in Papar, near here, Sunday.
Mositun,
who is also PBS Pantai Manis divisional chief, said so far
there were no such cases reported in Papar but added that
this should not be taken for granted.
In this
respect, he called for co-operation from the kampung folk
as requested by the Government to assist in curbing the
problem.
It was
reported that several illegal immigrants in Sabah were found
holding "identification documents" obtained from
village heads and several village heads had been sacked
for issuing such documents.
