KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS)
Supreme Council member, Johnny Mositun, said police must
conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the
Kunak "IC factory" case.
"We
want to see who are actually behind the syndicate, how and
from where the culprits got those seized equipment and documents,"
he said here Sunday.
He said it was
puzzling how a stamp bearing the name of a National Registration
Department (NRD) officer based in Tawau, a stamp to certify
authenticity and a date stamp were found in the possession
of the suspected syndicate member arrested.
"It
is a serious case. If the suspect is truly a local Sabahan,
he is like selling the future of Sabah. He believe other
people, including people inside the government departments
or agencies concerned, were involved," said Mositun.
He said
something concrete should be done on this matter because
"if not, we will soon be outnumbered by fake 'locals''
and even worse, we may become 'illegal immigrants' in our
own State soon.
"It was
not the first 'IC factory' discovery in Sabah, as several
others were busted last year, including in Papar and Tuaran,
but nothing has been done to effectively address the problem,"
he added.
