TAWAU: Voters intending to vote for the
opposition in the forthcoming elections have been urged
to rethink their decision.
Former Chief Minister, Datuk Joseph Pairin Kitingan said
the opposition could not do anything for the people except
to engage in useless politicking.
He said the people should give their fullest support to
the Barisan Nasional in order for the coalition to carry
out further development for the state, just as it has been
doing all this while.
Speaking to reporters after officiating at the Parti Bersatu
Sabah’s general meeting of its Sri Tanjung, Balung, Merotai
and Kalabakan divisions, Pairin who is also the party president
said:
“The BN has already solved a number of problems that had
been plaguing the state and given time, all other problems
could also be solved while development project are speeded
up.
“I have seen some of the problems being solved and we (PBS)
are in full support over the action taken on the illegal
immigrants”.
On the possibility of the BN making a clean sweep in the
coming elections, Pairin stated that if the support given
to BN and PBS in the past still stands, there should be
no problems.
He added that the people is grateful for the peace and
harmony experienced thus far despite the turmoil seen in
other parts of the world.
“So why the need to vote in the opposition who can only
make some noise here and there but apart from that, remain
ineffective, and usually disappear after election time,”
he added.
On the matter that some PBS supporters might refuse to
throw their weight behind the BN, Pairin stated that he
had explained to its members why they should vote and support
the coalition.
