KOTA KINABALU: The Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has lodged an official objection with the Registrar of Society (ROS) on the use of the word BERSATU by the would-be registered new party, United Sabah People’s National Organisation.

Its secretary general Datuk Radin Malleh said in a statement here yesterday that PBS was not against the formation of the new party which is led by Maidom Pansai, a former PBS MP for Kota Belud as it is their rights under the Federal Constitution.

However, he said by using the word Bersatu especially for its acronym would certainly confuse the people.

Radin said Maidom should stop confusing the electorate by camouflaging their so-called struggle by forming a political party and using the acronym Bersatu portraying as if the party is under the image of PBS.

According to Radin, the word Bersatu is synonymous to PBS politically, as it is its motto as enshrined under Article 4A of its constitution.

“Therefore the Registrar of Society should not approve the registration of the party if they do not drop the acronym Bersatu to their party,” he said.

Meanwhile, Radin urged the people to reflect on the political history and the credibility of the prime movers of the new party particularly Maidom himself who had joined both PBS and PBRS.
