KOTA KINABALU:
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) Deputy President Datuk Dr Maximus
Ongkili has been appointed the Science and Technology Adviser
to Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman.

said in appointing Dr Ongkili to the post, he had taken into
consideration his role as the sole representative from Sabah
at the National Information Technology Council (NITC), chaired
by the Prime Minister.

pertaining to Dr Ongkili's appointment with the State Secretary.
He also said Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister
Datuk Chong Kah Kiat had been given the task of addressing
the issues of illegal logging and fish-bombing activities
in the state's waters.
Speaking to reporters after chairing the state cabinet meeting
Wednesday, Musa said Chong's assignment was in line with the
efforts to continue addressing the two issues which were among
Chong's priorities when he was the Chief Minister.
On the issue of illegal immigrants, another of the priorities
of Chong, Musa said that it would also be continued and it
was now coordinated by the State Security Working Committee.
Efforts to rid the state of illegal immigrants and their squatter
houses launched in February last year under the Ops Nyah II
Bersepadu would go on as planned, he said.
Musa said locals who were residing in the former squatter
colonies of the mainly illegal immigrants would be resettled.
"We need about 5,000 to 10,000 of low-cost houses throughout
Sabah for the purpose," he said.
