Sabah, Sarawak Set To Gain In Development Through 1Malaysia Mission
PITAS, July 4 (Bernama) -- Sabah and Sarawak are set to gain in development and progress with the necessary foundation laid out by the Government's 1Malaysia mission, Government Transformation Plan, Economic Transformation Plan and Tenth Malaysia Plan.
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili said, under the leadership of Prime Minister and Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, the two states had become "the darling of the Federal Government" as the leaders were sincerely concerned about their development.
For example, he said discussions on the National Key Result Areas and National Key Economic Areas did not leave out Sabah and Sarawak but they were always taken into consideration when strategies were thought out.
Dr Ongkili, who is also science, technology and innovation minister, said this when opening a three-day 1PBS camp for PBS Northern zone at the Dataran Bengkoka here Sunday.
However, he warned that while BN remained strong, the state coalition must maintain the people's trust and support by addressing issues close to their heart.
These include issues pertaining to illegal immigrants, land ownership and imbalance in power sharing, which could pose a threat to the coalition, he said.
Dr Ongkili however, is confident the BN leadership, especially at national level, would be able to resolve these.
