MOSTI Identifies 22 Projects Under Its Technology Programme

KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) has identified 22 projects to be implemented under its Technology Applications Programme or TAPmosti@Community for targeted groups, especially in rural areas.

The projects include organic insect repellant using pandan and neem leaves and lemongrass under Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), K-School by MIMOS Bhd and biodiesel production using palm oil effluent by Nuclear Malaysia.

"TAPmosti@Community is aimed at tapping the skills, resources and technologies of MOSTI to bring them to the people, especially to those in the rural areas who are often forgotten.

"We want science and technology to touch their daily lives and eventually to create wealth for them," its minister, Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili said in a statement Thursday.

He said the projects will be spearheaded by the various agencies concerned under MOSTI.

TAPmosti@Community is aimed at bringing science, technology and innovation to the community so that these can be truly felt by the grassroots in their daily lives.

The programme is implemented by the ministry under the second stimulus package.
