UITM Specialists Carrying Out Checks In Kota Marudu

KOTA MARUDU, March 15 (Bernama) -- A team of specialists from the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), is currently in this northern district of Sabah to carry out comprehensive health screening under the faculty's Pure Rus programme.

The team, which includes cardiologists, pathologists and family health specialists, is targetting about 600 participants from among the locals.

The programme was opened by Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili here today.

In his speech, Ongkili urged the people to take care of their health and practice healthy eating habits.

On the Pure Rus programme, Ongkili said, the international collaborative programme is based in McMaster University in Canada and supported by the World Health Organisation.

He said, over 5,000 people from Peninsular Malaysia had participated in the programme.

Kota Marudu is the programme's first stop in east Malaysia, he said.
