PBS Continues To Champion Racial Unity As Its Core Political Platform

KUDAT, Aug 10 (Bernama) -- Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has always and will continue to champion racial unity as its core value and political platform, said its secretary-general, Datuk Henrynus Amin.

He said the PBS slogan 'Patriotism as the basis for unity' reflected the party's belief and political vision for the people of Sabah to be united as one irrespective of race and religion.

"Patriotism, simply means love for the country and the party believes those who love the country will never do anything that jeopardizes racial harmony which is a precondition for peace and prosperity.

"PBS will defend and fight for the rights of the people of Sabah to be united and to enjoy the fruits of development within the framework of the Federal and state Constitution," he said.

In his speech at the opening the PBS Banggi and Tg Kapur annual general meeting, here, he said PBS had resisted calls by certain groups to become a racial political party "because PBS is a multi racial political party that caters for the needs of all communities".

He said the PBS multi-racial political agenda could and would be realized through the Barisan Nasional (BN).
