PBS Conference Expected To Express Support For
Najib
KOTA KINABALU, Nov 9 (Bernama) -- The
Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) delegates conference to be held
at the Hongkod Koisaan hall near here over two days from
tomorrow is expected to reiterate full support for the 1Malaysia
Concept and the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri
Najib Tun Razak.
PBS Secretary-General Datuk Henrynus Amin, who stated this
in a statement today, said Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri
Muhyiddin Yassin was scheduled to open the main conference
on Thursday.
The delegates were expected to discuss issues related to
business opportunities, land, power sharing, development
and illegal immigrants, he said.
Henrynus said the Wanita PBS and PBS Youth conferences
would be held tomorrow and were scheduled to be opened by
PBS President Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
He said PBS welcomed members of the public to attend the
opening of the conferences at 10am.
Henrynus said the Barisan Nasional (BN) victory in the
Batu Sapi parliamentary by-election on Thursday reflected
the growing confidence of the people of Sabah in the ability
of the ruling government to develop Sabah and bring about
greater peace and prosperity to the people.
"This electoral victory signals the acceptance by
the people of the Government Transformation Programme and
the Economic Transformation Programme mooted by the prime
minister through the '1Malaysia: People First, Performance
Now' concept," he said.
The BN retained the seat when its candidate, Datin Linda
Tsen Thau Lin, polled 9,773 votes to beat Ansari Abdullah
of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) and Datuk Yong Teck Lee of
the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) by a majority of 6,359
votes.
Tsen is the widow of the previous MP, Datuk Edmund Chong
Ket Wah of PBS, who was killed in a road accident on Oct
9.
