Najib a more credible leader than Anwar: PBS
KOTA KINABALU, Aug 26 (The Borneo Post)
-- Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) vice-president Herbert Timbon
Lagadan said Prime Minister Datuk Najib Razak is a more
credible person to lead the nation than Parti Keadilan Rakyat
(PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He said under Najib’s 1Malaysia concept, the present government
is trying to get the best deal for Sabah and hopefully in
three years’ time most of the problems faced by Sabahans
will be addressed.
“I sincerely believe Najib is more credible and trustworthy
than Anwar. Even PKR’s own assemblymen and excos in Kedah
had lost confidence in Anwar,” he said in a statement here
yesterday.
Timbon was responding to PKR vice-president Datuk Dr Jeffrey
Kitingan’s statement in which he said he would consider
rejoining PBS only if the Party can get better deal for
Sabah, as outlined in PKR’s Tambunan Declaration, within
one year.
On this, Timbon, who is also the Assistant Community Development
and Consumer Affairs Minister, said: “Even if Pakatan Rakyat
forms the government, it is too much and unfair to ask them
to solve Sabah problems within one year.”
“Basically all the PR State Governments in Peninsular Malaysia
failed to fulfill their election promises,” said Timbon
who had before this extended an open invitation to Dr Jeffrey
to ditch PKR to rejoin PBS.
“I call upon Dr Jeffrey, a promoter of peace and rule of
law, to quit the opposition and rejoin peaceful PBS now
as a show of disapproval over the growing unethical behaviour
of some PKR leaders,” he reiterated.
