Proposes Ad-Hoc Panel To Unite Kadazandusun

RANAU: Minister in the Prime Minister's
Department Datuk Dr Maximus Ongkili has proposed the formation
of an ad-hoc unity panel comprising apolitical Kadazandusun
and Murut intellectuals and professionals to exchange ideas,
identify common grounds for unity and propose strategies
for solidarity among the community.
Ongkili
who is the vice-president of the Kadazandusun Cultural Association
(KDCA) said the days of political bickering and animosity
among leaders of the community should now be over.
"It's
time to give the Kadazandusun and Murut unity a fresh boost
and new dimension," he told Bernama after attending
the 9th Annual KDCA Nunuk Ragang Visit, here Sunday.
The
ceremony, held at Nunuk Ragang, 54km from here, was to commemorate
the place believed to be where Kadazandusun people originated
from.
It also
coincides with the 20th anniversary of the installation
of the current Huguan
Siou or paramount leader of the Kadazandusun community,
Datuk Seri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
